Volunteering with animals in Sao Vicente!
Overview
You will see magnificent places and learn about aspects of the island that most tourists ignore.
Not only will you do good to dogs and cats that Simabo has been dealing with for years, but you will fill your heart with pure emotions that you will carry with you forever.
Inclusions
- Private transportation
What to expect
You will have the chance to take care of the abandoned and stray dogs and cats of Sao Vicente Island.
We always need a hand in our shelter which has more than 70 dogs and 20 cats.
We offer you a unique opportunity to fill your trip with love as well as introduce you to every aspect of the Cape Verde Islands.
You will be able to walk the shelter dogs, accompany needy animals to the clinic, play with the puppies and thus get them used to human contact, cuddle the cats and help us out in the hostel (the proceeds of which go 100% for the animals).
We are waiting for you!

Changing the life of one animal won’t change the world, but the whole world of this one animal will be changed. I’m Miriam, 31 years old, from Germany. I think that animals are better than humans, except these guys here from Simabo. These people are one of the greatest I’ve ever met. They put so much effort in their work with dogs, cats and also children. They change the world (for more than one animal). I’m having the great honor to be a part of their team for some weeks. I walk the dogs in the shelter, I cuddle the fluffy cats in my apartment and I can’t stop taking photos for Simabo. The animals here are just too adorable! Coming here wasn’t my plan. I work in the tourism industry and am usually quite busy. But right now with the worldwide Corona pandemic I have a lot of free time because nobody travels. For Simabo this is a really hard time because they need volunteers. Helping the animals here is not possible in the way it is with helping hands from travelers. Even though it’s not the best time to go abroad right now I decided to do it anyway. I made a Corona test and as soon as I got the negative result I traveled to Cabo Verde, the smallest country in Africa with a wonderful culture. I’m not a tough person. Seeing animals suffering makes me cry and cry and cry. But crying doesn’t help them, they need us! So what are you waiting for? Come and get to know this amazing place with this amazing Simabo team! They will help you having a great time here, even if you think your heart can’t make it. With Simabo you can be a hero! I spend 1 week in simabos’hostel and it was a great time, I really felt like at home, thanks everybody.
