A pleasant walk around the gardens with a passionate Darwin resident as our guide. She explained that she was not a horticultural expert at all she is just a Gardens enthusiast. A pleasant way to see the Gardens.

We did two tours with Walk Darwin during our short stay in Darwin, the ‘Meet the plants walk’ through the Botanical Gardens with Nerida and the ‘Hidden Secrets of Darwin walk’ with John the following day. Both walks were casual yet super informative and we learnt things we definitely would not have gained on our own. We enjoyed our walks throughly and would highly recommend for anyone looking to gain a further understanding of the history and stories of these fascinating places. This is an excellent, informative and well-researched tour covering the history of the gardens and many of the plants and wildlife living in the gardens. This is an excellent, informative and well-researched tour covering the history of the gardens and many of the plants and wildlife living in the gardens. Yvonne, our guide, could answer all of our questions, and guide us through some stunning seasonal flowerings - of the boab tree, cannonball tree and many varieties of ornamental ginger. She also knew where to find a barking owl (snoozing high up in a tree) and lovely blue-winged kookaburra. I joined the final free walking tour of the gardens (mid Oct 2018), organised with Walk Darwin by the Darwin City Council. It would definitely be worth paying for this excellent tour.A relaxed opportunity to learn more about the history of the gardens and some key features. It provides a springboard to further explore those areas that you are interested in. The talk was informative and conducted at a good pace. Questions were happily welcomed. A great introduction!

This is not a serious botanic tour but an easy paced overview with history about the gardens and advice as to other sections that may be of interest to the guest. Suited us just perfectly.
