Last night my wife and I went on the turtle watching experience with Abel-tours, all I can say is fantastic and worth every penny! All the guys were brilliant and very friendly. We were picked up outside our hotel taken on a trip of about 40 minutes to the location. Once we were there, we meet Anita who spoke many different languages and had lots of local knowledge. We were very lucky, after waiting about 10 minutes we were told it was time to go as a turtle had just turned up on the beach. We walked for about 5 minutes in the pitch black with only a red light from Anita as not to scare the turtles. Once we arrived we got to experience the turtle laying her eggs, which seemed to go on for ages (approx 50 eggs) could of been more. Once finished, we watched her turn and make her way back into the ocean and then disappear. We then got to see and hold some baby turtles that had just hatched and were about to make their journey to the sea. It also impressed us that we were in a small group of no more than 10 and not a great big group, it seemed more personal and private and would not scare the turtles. What an amazing night! I would 100% recommend booking this trip!Bijzonder om een keer gezien te hebben. Goede en duidelijke uitleg. Leuk voor een keertje, maar niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

We went on the turtle watch evening and it was a brilliant Experience and they tell you all about the turtles and it was nice to learn more about the turtle on boa vista . I would say take a coat has it does get a bit windy waiting for the guide to find a turtle and you must wear sensible foot wear and we took Insect Repellent and there was no Mosquitoes at all . For me it was the highlight of the holiday and May only problem was it was a little bit bounce on the trip there and that was the only thing and it would not stop me going againCollected on time from Karamboa then called at Palace and then Toureg. Collected on time from Karamboa then called at Palace and then Toureg. Proceeded to beach and walked (you need comfortable shoes for walking on soft sand) for a while. Then had to sit, very quietly and still, on the sand and wait until a turtle came up the beach. We only waited about half an hour and then moved to where the turtle was. We watched (via red light) as the turtle dug her hole, laid her eggs, buried her eggs and then set off back to the sea. It was THE most incredible experience ever ... very humbling. WHAT WE WISHED WE'D KNOWN: That they recommend long sleeves not because you may get cold but because you will probably get bitten to death!!! Definitely cover up and use insect repellent (apply before you go/arrive otherwise the smell can affect the turtles). If you have a camera with infrared light your photos will be much better than with a normal camera ENJOY!We saw turtles which was great but as a person who has carried out turtle conservation work I am shocked in how the guide allowed people to touch the turtle and even pick up an egg and handle it. Please, these types of trips are for viewing. We don't need to intrude
