What to expect
Just a short drive from Bogotá, and located in the forest of the Andes mountains, the highest waterfall in Colombia lies waiting: La Chorrera de Choachí featuring waterfalls, caves and mesmerizing views.
This journey to the “Mountains of the Moon” will start when one of our guides and a driver pick you up in your hotel. Before getting to La Chorrera we will visit Guadalupe one of Bogotá’s best viewpoints. See its imposing landscape and then head to Choachí, to the entrance of the park. Once there, we’ll visit its first, smaller waterfall, El Chiflón. As we advance, learn of the park’s history, the local ecosystem, and recent challenges Explore the park’s other curiosities like its “monkey stones”, and the peculiarities of these cloud forests.
Deeper inside the park, you’ll find La Chorrera: a tiered or stepped 590 meters tall waterfall. This one you can’t rappel down, but you can marvel at! Take in the mighty sight and rest your feet before taking the trail back out of the park.
Finally, you’ll be able to join in with some of the locals for a fantastic local lunch before heading back to Bogotá.

My guide throughout the tour was Camila. She was punctual from the time picking me up & made sure we did everything planned for the tour. Since it was just me, she made me feel very safe & comfortable the whole time. She was also very knowledgeable when it came to La Chorrera & the entire park. The views were breathtaking & nature at its best. La Chorrera was definitely one of my favorite stops in Colombia. It should be visited by every tourist that stops through Bogota. THANK YOU Gran Colombia Tours for pairing me with one of the BEST tours & tour guides.By far my best experience during my few days around Bogotá. By far my best experience during my few days around Bogotá. I was picked up in perfect time at my hotel by my guide David, and one of his colleagues who drove us first to the Cerro de Guadalupe, which is a wonderful balcony with privileged view over Bogotá and also over Monstserrate (being a higher peak), and then to the Chorrera park, where we started enjoying a ~3h hike through the beauties of the park. These include a first waterfall, El Chiflon (you can walk right behind it) and then the magnificent Chorrera, highest waterfall in the country, and one of the highest in South America. I really enjoyed the whole tour and I can only recommend it wholeheartedly. Special mention for the guide David: he is very meticolus in taking care of all details, knowledgeable and informative around all aspects of the tour including nature, history, local culture, and besides that he is the nicest guy, very affable, and particularly pleasant to talk with.David and our driver arrived on time and whisked us away to the most incredible scenery! Went to Bogota this week, booking this hike was one of the best decisions we made! Not only do you get to see beautiful views of the country, but our guide David was much more than just a hiking leader. He provided detailed background on the history of Colombia, its current affairs, its economy, its culture and its music. What a fantastic way to enjoy an unforgettable day! The hike can be difficult due to the length and the altitude, but it's so worth it! When we come back to Colombia we look forward to booking with Gran Colombia again. We had an amazing time on the private hike to see the two waterfalls. Our tour guide Leslie was amazing!! We had an amazing time on the private hike to see the two waterfalls. Our tour guide Leslie was amazing!! Very friendly and made the hike that much nicer! She also pointed out interesting things along the ride there. The driver Diego picked us up in the morning at the hotel, and we drove to the park. The last 3km are a bit bumpy, but he managed well 😄 We hiked to the Chorrera waterfall. In total for about 10km and 500m of elevation. We then had a warm lunch nearby the Chiflon waterfall, before heading back to the hotel. You get to take amazing pictures from up close to both waterfalls, even one from behind! Highly recommended!!
