Maria and Nic were great guides. Really helpful when we messed up our passes, explained safety stuff really well. Great opportunity to learn the basics of backcountry skiing!

I signed up for the Intro to Backcountry course and was quite nervous due to my lack of experience in the backcountry. Our guide, April, was extremely patient and understanding. I was definitely the slowest and the least experienced haha, but I never felt pressured and April and the group were incredibly helpful and reassuring. I can't recommend this course enough. It was the hardest thing I've done physically and I challenged/pushed myself harder than ever before. The entire team made me feel supported and I wouldn't have been able to do it without them. Huge shoutout to Ollie and Kat who answered all of my many questions and went the extra mile sending me info about transportation and rescheduling for me. Thank you for making this such an incredible experience! Will definitely take courses with them in the future. What an amazing and professional program. Just completed my AST1 with April Mason who was an incredible teacher. Learned so much and feel so much more confident in the back country. Highly recommend the program and will continue my mountain education with MSAA

I’ve been keen to try splitboarding for a few years now and saw this trip with MSAA and thought it looked ideal. That proved to be the case, the small group met at the rental shop for a briefing and to pick up the kit that had been hired. The guide, April, was very informative, friendly and highly professional - she was attentive to the needs of the group and as you’d expect from a mountain professional, she was able to adapt the day according to the conditions and needs of the group. To get out into the back country and earn the turns was wonderful and with the right kit and instruction it was a lot easier than I had expected to get up the slopes. Safety was always considered and a lot of knowledge imparted without ever being patronising or overwhelming. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and will look to do a follow-on course next time I am in the area - thanks 😃I really enjoyed the 'Intro To Backcountry' program. The day was very informative and provided me with the knowledge and skills to confidently pursue more backcountry adventures. Our guide, Eliel, was great. I would 100% recommend Mountain Skills Academy.

Loved the introduction to backcountry course! I have been wanting to get into ski touring for a while now and I finally decided to give it a go. The booking process was really easy and their staff are very helpful. I was the only one on the date that I picked and they let me know that the tour wouldn’t run unless there were at least two people. So I asked a few friends and it ended up being just myself and two of my close friends so it made for a very fun day that was tailored specifically to our needs. Eliel was a fantastic guide. We learnt a lot but also had so much fun. He was very patient and let us go our own pace. I felt very safe the whole time and I can’t wait to get out there and try it again! Highly recommend mountain skills academy!
