We took a tour from Silvia through the UNESCO sites. Silvia was delightful. She is a warm and friendly person. Her knowledge was comprehensive and English was perfect. One of the best walking tours I've done anywhere in the world.

We found her very knowledgeable about the history of the mosaics and their creation (she herself has qualifications in mosaic-making). She is also very personable. Thank you, Silvia.

I contacted Silvia after reading positive reviews on Trip Advisor and am so glad I did! She was very quick to respond as we made the arrangements for a half-day tour and an absolute delight as a guide. She is from Ravenna and we immediately got a sense of her love of the city and its extraordinary mosaics. We were a group of three - me, my husband and our daughter. Silvia did a superb job putting the mosaics in historical context and telling the stories of the people behind them and depicted on them. Some of her explanations were very poetic. I especially loved how she explained the symbolism of the objects in the mosaics, like crowns as a symbol of eternal bliss in paradise, and the meanings conveyed by the brilliant mosaic colors. We also made a quick stop at a contemporary mosaic studio, where it was fascinating to see all the colored glass options and to see this ancient technique in practice today. It is hard to convey how beautiful the UNESCO mosaics are - just heart-stopping. Thank you to Silvia for bringing them to life for us.We were staying in Pesaro but my husband really wanted to go see to Ravenna, it was worth the drive. We were staying in Pesaro but my husband really wanted to go see to Ravenna, it was worth the drive. We researched online to find a private guide and we were very fortunate to find Silvia. My husband is very knowledgable in art and history and most guides are not at his level. Silvia answered all his questions and she explained the history of Ravenna and we went to visit the most important sites. She even helped us with some clothes shopping, finding delicious local salami and pointed out a few shops who made mosaics for personal purchase. When we asked for a restaurant for lunch she insisted to bring us to the restaurant door where we had a wonderful lunch. We had a marvelous, fantastic, delightful 3 hour tour, we cannot recommend Silvia enough.Silvia is a native of Ravenna and is very knowledgeable in its history.
