Carla was incredible and it’s clear how passionate she is about Mayan history- she’s the best! So grateful she shared her extensive knowledge with us. She really went out of her way to make the tour the best experience possible. She even offered to take us on side tours so we could learn more than other standard tours! She knew the caves very well and was able to show us parts of the cave that couldn’t be seen by only tubing. She even got us breakfast on the way there and gave us a home cooked meal for our lunch! Overall we couldn’t recommend her more. Take this tour, you won’t regret it! She’s a gem! Side note - loved the format of seeing Xunantunich in the first half of the day then cave tubing in the afternoon. Great way to see both ruins and caves in the same day.We had a group of 6 and the tour/ communication with the company was amazing before During and after! Educational and fun activity. The combination of the tour and the caves was perfect. My teenage son and I learned a lot about Mayan culture and really enjoyed the cave tubing adventure. For those considering the ATM tour-- this does not require the same level of fitness, but is still loads of fun. I highly recommend this tour, but if you're coming from Mariposa Jungle Lodge, factor in an additional $75 for hotel pick up and drop off. The activity says hotel pick up is included in San Ignacio town, and the tour company confirmed they would pick me up. However, a few days before the tour, when I still had time to cancel, I was told I would need to pay $75 in cash for hotel pick up in cash. The Mariposa Jungle Lodge actually is about 15-20 minutes out of town, so it was a big diversion. Just something to keep in mind when considering the cost of this tour if you're staying outside of San Ignacio proper. We took a chance and booked the Xunantunich and Cave tubing tour based on positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We took a chance and booked the Xunantunich and Cave tubing tour based on positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We were picked up from our hotel my Rodolfo and taken to Xuantunich. We were there at opening time and were the first ones there for a bit. Rodolfo was extremely knowledgeable and provided so much context and information to this amazing site. On another note, the next day we crossed into Guatemala to see Tikal with another company and although the guide was nice, he was no where near as knowledgeable or as interesting as Rodolfo. Then we switched to the cave tubing with Carla who was talkative and provided interesting information about Belize. We ate a homemade, delicious lunch at picnic tables before going tubing. We walked for a bit holding our tubes and saw bats in a cave. The tubing itself is pretty slow, but she allowed us to explore and swim in smaller pools where no-one else was. The caves are so pretty. Then she drove us back to our hotel. I really feel like going with a small company like this gave us such a personalized experience that a bigger company would not have provided. Highly recommend!
