Stop At: Xunantunich, Belize
You will be picked up in Belize City and head to Xunantunich with a local guide. The site was a major ceremonial center for the ancient Maya and it was the first Mayan site in Belize to be open to the public in 1954. From the top of Xunantunich, you will get a spectacular panoramic view of the Cayo District and across the border in Guatemala.
Getting to Xunantunich includes riding a hand-cranked ferry to cross the majestic Mopan River.
After exploring Xunantunich and having lunch, you will head to the Belize Caves. This is where you start with a hike through the exotic rain forest to the mouth of the cave. The view is stunning as you float away from the cave entrance to your inner tube with only your headlamp to lead the way.
Afterwards, you will return to your hotel in Belize City.

We booked two tours with Private Adventure Tours in Belize. Our driver and guide, Ellsworth was extremely knowledgeable, on time, and really made our trip to Belize memorable. The first day we did Xunantunich and Cave Tubing. The site was amazing, he was courteous with our pace and gave commentary along the way. Cave tubing was really fun and a cool off from the morning trek. The next day we did the Lamanai Temple site. Ellsworth drove us there and Carlos took us on the 25 mile river boat trip to the site. The beauty of Belize via the river is not to be missed. Birds, flowers, and the occasional croc make the trip go fast and easy. The Lamanai site is well kept and gorgeous. I would recommend Private Belize Adventure to anyone coming to this area. This tour was very well run. These ruins are worth the trip. The cave tubing was perfect for an introduction to cave tubing. Beautiful all the way around. Great staff and Tour guides at all locations.

The tour guide Tarik was excellent is all he did on the trip out to the ruins. Stopping is picking up some local foods for us to experience. Then at the ruins he was very knowledgeable about everything. Then it got even better at the Cave Tubing where once again Tarik made it very informative and FUN! BUT, Belize City was VERY SKETCHEE and we did not go out at night. When I learned we could have set it up and stayed in San Pedro I really wished we had done that.We had a great guide.! The ride to Xunantunich is worth it. It’s beautiful and a great chance to see and learn about inland Belize and Belizean Culture! Cave tubing was awesome. Stopped and ate at Amigos on the way back - at the suggestion of our guide - and it was also great!

Our guide, Pablo, made this truly a wonderful experience. He was an amazing guide! He was so knowledgeable and made the trip both educational and fun! Great jokes too! We enjoyed his tour of the ruins and an authentic local lunch. Our local guide, Rosa, took us on our way through tubing in the cave and again, she too was very knowledgeable and friendly. A perfect day for my family and I. Highly recommend!!!!
