This tour was SO BEAUTIFUL. Yaxha is probably the most underrated attraction in all of Guatemala, and I can't recommend enough the trip with this company! I did the sunset tour with my boyfriend, and this was probably one of the most spectacular places we visited in Guatemala. Tito, our guide, was an expert on history and told us everything about Yaxha, Mayan culture, and Guatemalan culture overwall. Elmer helped me coordinate everything, they picked us up on time from our hotel in Flores, took us for lunch at a nice place with local food, and we were exploring the park the entire afternoon. I learned a lot, and took a lot of photos because everything you see is beautiful!Booked the Yaxha tour with Elmer and it was such a wonderful experience! He was so knowledgable and friendly, and was able to teach me a lot both about the history of the region and the ruins, and about the wildlife and plants in the area. Booked the Yaxha tour with Elmer and it was such a wonderful experience! He was so knowledgable and friendly, and was able to teach me a lot both about the history of the region and the ruins, and about the wildlife and plants in the area. Watching the sunset at Yaxha was also so beautiful. Elmer made me I had all the time I wanted to spend up on the ruins, and made sure to get a lot of good pictures since I was traveling alone. I cannot recommend this tour enough!I had a magical time visiting Yaxha with Elmer. He is full of knowledge and the passion and love for his country truly shows. We booked a 1-day private VIP tour from Flores to Yaxha with the sunset viewing. The service included: hotel pickup and drop-off, lunch at a local restaurant, ice-cold water, full-guided tour of the site. The tour was very comfortable on an air conditioned van and excellent driving. Our guide Jeovanni, made the experience unforgettable! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all of our questions about the history of the country and the site. He knew the site very well, took us the best spots for the sunset viewing and took great pictures of us along the way! Jeovanni's sense of humour was unmatched. He has the best jokes (and beard :) ) in Guatemala!!!Elmer is an exceptional guide, one of the best I've had in any country. Elmer is an exceptional guide, one of the best I've had in any country. He is passionate about archaeology in all cultures, a passion that goes far beyond the sites where he leads tours. If you have visited archaeological or architectural sites in other countries, you can exchange travel stories with him and you will find an excellent listener and audience. He is patient, polite, curious, and full of interesting facts about ancient Mayan culture. He taught me a few phrases in Spanish and I taught him a few in English, which made us both very happy since we are both always trying to improve. He brings cold water bottles and a first-aid kit to ensure your safety during the trip. Yaxha is smaller than Tikal, but don't be fooled -- you will still sweat a lot while climbing stairs up and down to see the best views! We saw howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and were lucky enough to see a coatimundi. I recommend visiting Yaxha before Tikal, and if you book Yaxha with Elmer you may very well wish to book him again for your next tour. Gracias Elmer! We had an incredible time! Elmer is warm and welcoming as well as very professional. He’s thought of everything to make the tour a lovely experience — He’ll make sure you are taken care of and comfortable, from recommending a great place to eat to taking amazing photos! We had an incredible time! Elmer is warm and welcoming as well as very professional. He’s thought of everything to make the tour a lovely experience — He’ll make sure you are taken care of and comfortable, from recommending a great place to eat to taking amazing photos! He has so much knowledge not just about the Mayan sites you are exploring but also about local plants, animals, and Guatemala in general…there wasn’t a question we had that Elmer couldn’t answer! (We also toured Tikal at sunrise with Elmer and cannot recommend enough. His enthusiasm is contagious and he is committed to ensuring you have a tour tailored to your wishes). Yaxha is stunning, less crowded, and entirely worth the visit.
