What to expect
Depending on the skill level of the group, there are three types of boats used. The first is an oar raft, which has an aluminum frame mounted in the middle and two long oars for the guide to row through the rapids. You do not have to paddle—just hold onto the safety line for the big waves. The second is a stern-mount raft with the frame at the back. You'll paddle with the assistance of your guide, who rows the oars; the guide is in full control of the raft even if you do not paddle. The third is a paddle raft, the most hands-on option, where everyone has a paddle. There is no frame, and you navigate the rapids under your guide’s watchful eyes.
If it's low water (August to December), start your 14-mile (23-km) journey over mostly Grade 4 or 5 rapids. Higher water rafting (usually mid-January to the end of March and again from June to July) may clip some rapids and overall distance. Please be aware that rafting operations may close in April and May, subject to water levels.
At the end of your journey, you will make the steep climb out of the gorge. Take your time—at the top, a cold beer and barbecue lunch with vegetables await you. At the end of your tour, you will be driven back to your hotel.

With Tambu as cameraman, JB as lifeguard, and Clement and Terry as your captains you will have a wonderful experience of rafting in the canyon between Zimbabwe and Zambia. They were funny, friendly and you notice they love the job they do. The explanations were clear, the ride was nice and full of information and after the ride they will also provide you with a nice lunch. I would recommend everyone to go with Shockwave when you want to go wildwater rafting in Victoria Falls.1st time rafting, but didn’t mater the guys at Shockwave are amazing, funny & friendly, would recommend them definitely!

Incredible all day experience during low water time. TT, Tambu & Liberty took great care of my family as we booked a private trip for our family of 11 ages 9 through 75. Water was great and safety a clear priority. Hike in and out is challenging, but our guides made sure it was completed safely and provided some needed help for our eldest family member. We had a wonderful day with the team of shockwave adventures. We had a wonderful day with the team of shockwave adventures. The communication before the trip was already smooth and fast. Our tour guide was MD who is aiming to go the upcoming Olympics with the rowing team of Samiba. All the best for him! He was funny and very informative. The whole trip was accompanied by a filmmaker/camera man who made some great shots and footages. Furthermore there was an additional guide in a whitewater canoe for safety purposes. By the way we felt say the entire day. During the trip we jumped from rocks, paddled really hard, got wet and acutally jumped of the raft to free float through one of the rapids. Amazing day! Additional bonus was the food after the trip which was originally schedule before the trip but as we had breakfast already the made it possible for us to have the food afterwards. Awesome!Professional guides, this was an amazing experience. Guys were patient, fun and allowed some serious fun along the way. Will surely do this again!
