What a Fantastic day!! I was gifted this day by friends and it was a fantastic present!! I have lived near Alicante for 8 years and eaten some lovely paellas and drunk some very nice Sangrias ….. but how to re create at home??? Now I know and have just made my first batch of Salmorreta 😁😁 Thankyou Federico and Moncie for the lesson 👍👍 As advertised, the day started at the Mercado Central. It is a beautiful Mercado and the historical information Federico gave us was excellent! The reason the address is Mayo 25…. Just go and find out! The market stalls are amazing with an eye watering variety of great quality produce and Fed was a fantastic guide and so informative. Our produce purchased we walked the the short distance to the kitchen, met Moncie and our cookery lesson began, interspaced with nibbling the lush olives, jamon & typical Alicante salad washed down with Sangria… all purchased at the Mercado. Paella (Arroz) prepared, cooked and eaten - absolutely delicious! We took our leave, very well informed, fed and happy! So thank you to my friends for the day and Many Thanks to Fed and Moncie for fantastic experience. Well recommended 👍👍Not what I was expecting. Small groups prepping prawns, squid for paella. Tomato chopping and dried fish picking. Pomegranate deseeding. More groups squeezing and slicing fruit for Sangria. Maria‘s course was simply wonderful, we learned a lot from her! My son (11yrs old) had a great time too preparing the food and trying the stuffs (it became his highlight of our vacation). We cooked in a professional kitchen and it was very interesting to watch the owner of the place cooking her dishes next to us. The dishes prepared were made from local specialities and were eye-openers for us, including violett tomatoes and torched salted fish. The paella was fabulous and better than the ones I had in restaurants. We had great laughs, delicious food and a wonderful time. I definitely recommend this course!!!Unique, local experience and good Stories and Food! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Chapeau! Maria is a great guide and we enjoyed a lot.
